It's amazing how much more difficult it is to take a picture of a baby once she turns 6 months old. She wants to grab everything in sight and put it in her mouth, so having my "I'm 6 months old today!" sign anywhere near her made taking a picture impossible. She also rolls like there's no tomorrow too, so getting her to just stay in one place was a super challenge! For the first time daddy had to help out a bunch so that I could get at least one decent picture. I'm thinking after this month I'm going to have to start photoshopping a sign in. Anywho, here are my favorites from our 6 months shoot last night:
Daddy was clapping and making funny noises and faces to try to not only get a smile, but to keep her from rolling onto her belly!

I love this... I think she's thinking, "Someone get this camera out of my face!" She was done at this point.

And I know this picture has a crazy blurry toy in it, but I wanted to show how she can sit up on her own now if she isn't trying to get at something near her.

Now for a little update of the past couple of days... Wednesday my sister-in-law Nikki was in town for a teaching conference so we got to take her out to dinner and hang out for a bit. We love Nikki and rarely get to see her so it was such a treat to spend even a little time with her. Then last night we decided to take Loralye to FAO Schwartz at the Forum Shops in Caesar's Palace for her ½ birthday. On our way out there, Aaron decided that dinner was also needed to celebrate and took us to Outback for some steak and potatoes! Yumm-o!! Of course Loralye was sleeping right until the food showed up so I had to have my steak cut up for me like a 5 year old. Super! FAO Schwartz is under a little construction at the moment (the whole third floor is off limits right now!), but there was still so much to see and play with. Loralye loved it all and we left with three new toys for her! All the fun ended today though because first thing this morning we went in to the doctor for Loralye's 6 month well check which, of course, includes vaccinations. She handled them pretty well considering that she had three big needles shoved into her thighs. I just had to give her some cherry Tylenol and snuggle her all the way out to the car and she was content! As far as growth goes, I'm not sure I believe all of the measurements that were taken today. At four months she was measuring 14lbs 8oz (75%), 25½inches long (90%) and her head was 41½cm (70%). Today she weighed in at 16lbs even (50%), which is obviously accurate. And her head size sounded pretty accurate: 44cm (90%). Holy head! It's never seemed that big to me, but whatever. The measurement that I think the nurse got all wrong is Loralye's height. She measured her at 26inches (60%). Half of an inch in two months?! That can't be right, can it? When the Dr. came in and saw that, she went out and had a chat with the nurse and decided not to remeasure her. Nice. So I'm going to try to more accurately measure her when we get home tonight.
Well, we love you all and hope your summers are going swimmingly!
Have a happy Friday and a splendid weekend!
xoxo
